My very first eBook is ready and it's based on the 'Class in Magick' I took in 1996-97. The Class that changed my life!!
My mentor was a divorced woman the same age as my Mother (late 50's at the time). Karen Jackson ran her own successful publishing company Delphi Press before she retired, and was a co-founder of The Temple of the Four Winds in Chicago, Illinois 1997. She was a wonderful mentor, tarot reader and Priestess always asking me questions and making me reason things out for myself.
It was a weekly 2-hour class over a 5-month long period that culminated in my Initiation into the Temple at an Imbolc ritual in 1997. Those lessons and the practice of ceremonial magick every New Moon, every Full Moon and every Wheel of the Year festival over the next 2-3 years was how I began living a magickal life in tune with Earthly seasons and the pulse of the Cosmos.
As you can see, 1997 was before cellphones, so I received physical handouts that I placed in a binder. How quaint (right?). Technology has certainly made some advances since then, and now I'm impelled to share the teachings I got from my Wiccan Priestess and from 30 years of my own practice in Canva designed Grimoire Pages for digital download in my Etsy Store: ClassyKassyCrafts.
Volume 1 starts at the beginning, of course, with a leap of faith into The Foundations of Magic! And, the most important thing that my Priestess told me was that "Change is the only constant." At least, this was the first time in my life that I heard it and it stuck. She was a Virgo and extremely organized teaching me that if there was an underlying structure to magickal practice then you could be infinitely creative in how you practiced using that structure. Another thing she told us at that first Class in Magick was that the Goddess's hands were at the ends of your wrists. I think she might have also said; so get busy! The implication being that there's no Resurrection God coming to save you.
It's a total of 31 simply illustrated pages of what I consider some magickal basics for beginners in a logical order: 1) Magick is Change, 2) Types of Spells, 3) Many Definitions of Magick, 4) The Rules of Magick, and 5) Cosmic Laws of Consequences.
I've been curious about finding out what the truth is all my life and my perceptions keep changing and expanding as the years go by. The concepts outlined within these pages have my personal ClassyKassy biases, recommendations as well as my condemnation of dumb ideas, so BEWARE! You may be offended.
At that first class, Karen also gave us a simple list of inspirational phrases centered on a single piece of paper... a Word.doc. Nothing fancy, but those 2-word phrases are wonderfully inspiring and I've shared them with every one of my magickal students over the years. Now I've done my best to update and simply illustrate that plain page of phrases for inclusion in any Magickal Grimoire.
There is still so much life to live and so much left to learn. So much still to experience. So many new friends to make and places to go. Living life with authenticity and integrity is what I try to reflect in these teachings despite the disagreements I may have with other pagans about 'morality', and the existence of evil. I have faith in knowledge. Belief is irrelevant.
