Dowsing Pendulum over Tarot

Beware of Excess Today or Those Who Are Excessive

Today’s spread has one Major, one Minor and one Court card which is the King of Swords reversed. I’m afraid it’s never a good sign when a Court card appears reversed since this implies that the character probably has hidden intentions and is not what he or she appears on the surface. This King represents someone who is an adult male who may be an air sign; a Libra, Gemini or Aquarius. Since air is the mental realm, he’s intelligent, rational, and just. But reversed can be narcissistic with a mean streak, someone cruel, totally without empathy using his intellect to gain unfair advantages and even deceive others in crooked business deals. Temperance reversed represents immoderation, something out of balance or just a bad combination. There may be competing or conflicting interests and needs. If Temperance upright is moderation in all things, then reversed it can be extremism, excessive ambition, greed or going overboard with a lack of control, impatience, impulsiveness, and impropriety.

Normally, the 3 of Cups is a positive card symbolizing an emotional synthesis that results in joy and celebration, but paired with Temperance reversed can indicate an alcoholic going on a bender. And, with this reversed King, he could turn into a mean drunk. This combination of cards can also symbolize someone who is suffering today from a terrible hangover after partying all weekend. I would counsel that it would be wise to avoid people today that you know are given to behaviors that go to extremes of excess. The reversed King of Swords can also represent someone who doesn’t want to give up their intemperate behavior and wants to continue to party despite the negative consequences.
